Happy New Year from History Press West

December 27, 2012

Notes from the Editor

In 2011, the History Press released its very first titles west of the Rockies. In 2012, with a burgeoning list in California, New Mexico, Oregon, and Alaska, the press added even more western titles, including debut books in Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Washington, and Arizona. From The Missoula Mercantile and Cowboy Reunions of Las Vegas, New Mexico to The Hollywood Scandal Almanac and The Denver Folk Music Tradition, there’s a little something in the list for every reader.

While this past year has boasted many firsts, we’re looking forward to a few more in the coming year… There will be several West Coast additions to the newly minted American Palate series, from California Vines, Wines & Pioneers and Portland Beer: Crafting the Road to Beervana to Lost Restaurants of Sacramento & Their Recipes. We’ll have a fresh lineup of sports histories, including Oregon’s own Civil War Rivalry: Oregon vs Oregon State and the greatest grudge match in Major League Soccer, Cascadia Clash: Sounders vs Timbers. We’ll also publish the first-ever History Press titles in Canada, and we’ll continue to expand our list of middle-grade nonfiction and almanac-style book of days.

The press is incredibly proud of its growing family of authors here in the western states, and we’re excited to represent even more of the West’s vibrant heritage in the coming years. A warm thank you to all of the marvelous authors, bookstores, and historical organizations that help us celebrate history on the page.

Here’s wishing everyone a merry 2013!

Peace,

HP West
