Please join me April 6, 2013 at WordFire where I’ll be participating in a publishing panel and leading a proposal workshop during a one-day writing conference. History Press author Cheryl Anne Stapp will also be in attendance to represent the author perspective in the author-editor relationship and share her publishing insights.

Feed your fire!  This one-day creative writing conference will take place Saturday, April 6 at Butte College, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, in the Learning Resource Center, 2nd floor. Workshops in poetry, fiction, and other creative genres will give participants an opportunity to socialize and network with other writers while sharpening their writing skills and kindling their creativity.

Featured presenters include agent Karen Grencik from Red Fox Literary; poets Kazim Ali, Blas Falconer, Ken Letko, and Joanne Allred; multi-genre writers Hilary Tellesen, Paul Eggers, Heather Fisher, and Sara Pape;  fiction writers Finn Kraemer and Zu Vincent; and author and fiction editor Jessica Morrell. Additional activities include a presenter reading, student salon hosted by the Haberdashers, and a panel of agents and editors.

The conference runs from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. For more information and to register, visit the WordFire website at buttewordfire.org.

Also mark your calendars for the 60th Annual Western Writers of America Convention June 24-29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. History Press author Sherry Monahan will be a featured presenter, and I’ll be participating in a special editor and agent panel. Other panels include Victorian West: Virtues & Vice, Black Cowboys in the West, the Old Spanish Trail, Researching and Writing the Mormon West, Cowboy Poetry in the Great Basin area, Songwriting, and Authenticating History with Pawn Star’s Mark Hall-Patton.
